Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, as plus-size pinup model Tess Holliday just taught us with her first agency photo shoot with MiLK model management. Romanie Smith, a 20-year-old fetish model from the United Kingdom, is showcasing her beauty on the opposite side of the spectrum as she puts herself through intense waist training by wearing corsets six hours a day, four days a week. Inspired by pinup models of the 40s and 50s, Smith aspires to recreate their hourglass figures.
“I just think it’s more feminine,” Smith says in an interview with Daily Mail. Smith claims that before she started wearing corsets, her body was “straight up and down,” and she did not feel sexy or feminine. “I felt like a little girl,” she says. “And the whole reason I started wearing them was because I wanted to look more like a woman.” Smith, whose waist has shrunk from 25 inches to 18 in the the past 18 months, is pleased with the results. “The shape it gives you is more of an hourglass figure. It makes your waist look smaller, your bum look a little bit bigger and your boobs look bigger.” You can see the effects for yourself in the gallery below.
Even though the corsets cause Smith some pain, she wants to increase her usage and may try to set a new world record for smallest waist. Currently, the record is held by 78-year-old Cathie Jung from Connecticut, who set it with a 15-inch waist. But Smith is careful about her fashion choice. “Wearing a corset 24 hours a day,” she says, “you can snap ribs, have problems with kidneys sometimes. It also can damage the bottom parts of your lungs, but that’s only when you do it to extremes.”
And as stunning as Smith looks, she can’t please everyone. People have used words like “disgusting” and “unnatural” when describing her. “Someone even said I must be starving myself.” The model insists that she’s just small even though she eats like a horse. “This is my body, and I don’t care what anybody else has to say.”
