Kaosis Guitarist, VIVIVI, Lost a Bet and Got His Butt Tattooed Live on Stage

The enigmatic energy of Kaosis emerged out of the New Zealand, underground music scene, in late 2017. Like a virus, Kaosis has grown in form, and has spawned from a 3-piece group into a 10-piece juggernaut.

Kaosis plays a hybrid style of metal that features industrial and dubstep influences. Kaosis fuses metal, punk, horrorcore, dubstep and DnB “into a vortex of liberation and power.”

Every song is written to turn crowds into pits and pits into bass feeding frenzies.

The band is entering into discussions this month with labels, for distribution of their debut record: HITECH – LOWLIFE. The first single from the record has been co-written with Dino Cazares of Fear Factory.

Kaosis is more than a band. They are a live cocophanic experience that feverishly focuses on providing a uniquely entertaining and hyper energetic live show.

Kaosis headlined the Garden Stage at Rhythm n Vines to a crowd of 6k people and now run their own festival “Rail Fest” which features Metal, Rock, Punk, Hip Hop, tattoo artists and custom cars.

This energy was proven during Rail Fest in Hamilton, the “bogan capital of New Zealand,” when Kaosis guitarist, VIVIVI, got his butt tattooed live while performing on stage.

The stunt was the result of the guitarist losing a bet with another band member.

The bet? Synth player, Timmi Terra, wagered they could chug a beer, do a shot of tequila, and snort a line of shaker salt the fastest.

VIVIVI lost.

While Kaosis killed their performance at Rail Fest, the tattoo artist that performed the live inking was Pip Fauvel, from Bad Tattoo.

Fauvel had under 4 mins to mark the guitarist for life.

Pip Fauvel tells INKED about the experience.

“After taxing half a bottle of vodka off an underage groupie to sterilize our only needle, we were just about ready to smash the rails and rip into that poor f*ckers butthole,” Fauvel said.

“The band picked the shit design after Old Mate passed out too many times on the last tour. The upside down K in the circle is to symbolize the gnarly K-Hole that poor Barry has been stuck in. It was a suitably sh*t design and the execution was even worse, as per our guarantee.”

Fauvel has tattooed plenty of other musicians, but said, “no one has even been stupid enough to [have him] do it on stage.”

Fauvel says, for this, “we thank you Kaosis for being the dumbest c*nts we have met so far and we hope you enjoy your regret.”

Fauvel noted that as they “didn’t have time to shave,” the gun was “struggling to get through the hair.”

He added, “I don’t know what the c*nt had to eat but fuck I could smell it. At one point I’m sure there was speckles coming out. I will invest in safety glasses next time.”

VIVIVI, described as “the godfather of the industrial metalstep band, KAOSIS,” has toured the world with various bands as a guitarist and bassist. When he isn’t shredding up stages, he is in his custom build boutique studio working on breaking new hip hop and rock artists. VIVIVI is a true pioneer of New Zealand underground music.

Bad Tattoo has recently caused controversy in the New Zealand tattoo community for tattooing drunk people at local dive bars while drunk themselves.

Many experienced artists are appalled at the young artists “brazen attitude and punk rock approach to tattoo” and have called for boycotts of his alcohol fuelled events.

“Smash the Fucking Rail Fest” is a tectonic night of heavy edm, dubstep, hard rock, metal and live dnb.

Rail Fest is a mini festival that takes place in Hamilton, New Zealand. Rail Fest is the celebration of bass and distortion and features dnb, dubstep, metal, rock and alt hiphop. Rail Fest organizers are currently gearing up to take Rail Fest on the road in March and are currently booking artists for the Mid Winter version of the event.
