A Twisted Take on Ordinary Life

Every tattoo has a story behind it. The vast majority of these stories fall into one of two categories—the tattoos either commemorate a person/place/event or they act of getting the tattoo was a memorable experience. It’s the rare piece, like today’s Tattoo of the Day by Josh Woods, that has a completely original story behind it. Woods calls the tattoo “Haunted Trailer and Flamingo” and we are left to interpret what the story behind it is.

New School designs like this one have a playful element to them that you just don’t find in a lot of other tattoo styles. The vibrant colors and the lack of sharp corners throughout the tattoo remind us of Saturday morning cartoons. When we look at this tattoo we can’t help but think about the world’s created by Hanna-Barbera and Looney Tunes where anything is possible… but with a slightly sinister twist.

When we look at this particular piece by Woods we imagine that the plastic flamingo was responsible for some sort of curse. It was purchased as a gag by a very rich titan of industry. Once he placed the flamingo in one of the many fountains on the grounds of his palatial estate his luck started to turn sour—his trophy wife life left him, his company’s stocks hit rock bottom and soon all of his assets were foreclosed on. All that he has left is a trailer he purchased on a whim and never took out of the 20 car garage and the cursed flamingo. Soon the flamingo will come to life and rule over the entire trailer park.

Oh, excuse me, got a little carried away there. The coolest thing about this tattoo, and about many of the tattoos by the talented Woods, is that you can attach your own story to them. Get as creative as you want, let your imagination run wild. Check out this gallery of some of our favorite work by Woods and have a little bit of fun.
