Have a cup of Joe and enjoy some amazing coffee tattoos
September 29th is International Coffee Day, a holiday that celebrates one of the world’s favorite beverages. Coffee consumption dates back to 800 A.D., with legends proclaiming that an Ethiopian goat herder named Kaldi discovered the effects of caffeine after his goats consumed the Coffea plant. The cultivation and trade of coffee began in the Arabian Peninsula in the 15th century, spreading to Europe during the 17th century. The Dutch took to opening coffee plantations worldwide, establishing bases on the islands of Java, Sumatra and Celebes.
Today, the global coffee market looks very different, as about one third of world’s supply comes from Brazil. Around the world, coffee is consumed in many different ways—from lattes to espressos to cappuccinos. In fact, according to Dunkin’ Donuts there are 25,000 ways you can order their coffee and for Starbucks, that number rises to 80,000.
In honor of International Coffee Day and the thousands of ways you can enjoy a cup of coffee, take a look at some of our favorite tattoos depicting coffee. No matter how you like your coffee—with cream or black, hot or iced, decaf or caffeinated, all coffees are welcome.
