Comethazine Sheds Light on His Brand New Album
The St. Louis rapper reveals the meaning of bawskee
Comethazine is one of the latest and greatest rappers to come out of the Midwest. The St. Louis, Illinois rapper made his official debut in 2016 and since then, has only continued to grow in popularity—reaching millions of fans across streaming platforms and earning a coveted spot in XXL’s 2019 Freshman Class. Now, he’s fresh off of releasing the fourth album in his Bawskee series, aptly named “Bawskee 4” and if he were to describe the vibe of this project in one word, it would be energy.
What inspired “Bawskee 4?”
It’s part of a series, they all have the same name. The series is all about crazy energy.
Take me through making “Air Max.” What was your process like for this single?
I was mad as fuck when I made “Air Max,” I’m not gonna lie. You get angry as fuck and have that crazy energy.
What about the album’s other single, “We Gone Win?”
I was high as fuck when I made that, obviously. But I feel like that one’s pretty self explanatory, it’s an energy.
What do you hope that your fans take away from this album?
I just want them to have fun with it. That’s what my fans know, that it’s really fun music.
What’s your favorite song on the album?
I don’t think I have one, I like all of them.
What inspired you to get a bawskee tattoo?
I got it way back in the day and bawskee is just a word I made up. It basically means dope. If somebody does something hard, that’s bawskee shit.
What was your first tattoo?
My first one was the tombstone on my chest. I was 15 and when my mom saw it she started tripping.
What’s your favorite tattoo?
You know the crazy hyena from “The Lion King?” I have a tattoo of his face with devil horns and a red frame around it. It’s pretty dope.
What’s up next for Comethazine?
I’ve got some film shit coming up. I’ve got some movies planned. I direct them and I do whatever comes to mind.
