Holographic Tattoos
Would you get a holographic tattoo?
Tattooing has come a long way over the years. Portrait tattooers are able to recreate a celebrity’s (or your grandmother’s) photo in astounding detail. Textures such as features or scales were once overly simplified, but now can be captured in stunning realism. However, despite the many advancements that have been made in artistry and technicality, there are still some subjects that are incredibly difficult to capture. One of these tricky subjects, is anything holographic.
Materials (such as stickers, stationary, etc.) are made holographic by micro-embossing patterns or even images on a thin, flexible film. When the light hits the material from different angles, it gives the appearance of shifting rainbows, a diffraction phenomenon similar to light shining through a crystal prism. This process has become industrialized in commercial society, as your can find holographic stuff in every dollar store, Walmart and craft’s store in America. But, the process of replicating it in a tattoo is still pretty cutting edge. But the end result is seriously spectacular.
Take a look at some of our favorite holographic tattoos crafted by talented artists from around the globe in the gallery below. Then let us know if you’d get a holographic tattoo in the comments section on social media.
