I gotta get some stuff off my chest.. I know some people might be mad or upset I’m posting a photo of myself right now, but to be honest, I feel like *I can post photos of myself on my page and still be an activist and a good person who wants equality.* Why do I feel like I have to prove myself to people on the internet everyday right now? I know who I am in my ethics and morality. I’ve felt pulled in way too many different directions this past week and it’s all because I’ve been consuming too much on social media. One second I’m feeling so confident about one thing then the next I feel confident in the complete opposite. I think it’s okay to learn new things and move out of old thought patterns, but to be constantly pulled back and forth and back and forth.. it doesn’t feel right. I don’t feel right. I feel like I’m being pressured to devote every second of every day and every post to the BLM movement, which I DO SUPPORT, but I’ve known the way black people feel oppressed for a long time and I should have been already speaking up about it, not just right now because I feel pressured by society. I have just been starting to question myself and realize I don’t do this when something major goes down in the vegan movement. I might post some story posts but where is my voice for them on my timeline? Veganism is my number one passion in life, so what’s prompting me to post all of the posts I’ve been posting lately and not feel like I have to for other movements I believe in? Because everyone else was and I didn’t want to be silent and not use my platform. Because I felt like if I didn’t make all of these posts I wasn’t a good person (not that I’m being fake in my posts, I mean every word I say and BLACK LIVES MATTER). Well, I am a good person. And a DAMNED good one at that. And I keep forgetting I don’t need to prove it to ANYONE. Anyone who knows me personally knows who I am. I don’t need to try to prove it to 400,000 people online who are just gonna judge me anyways off of how I look, or what I said 3 years ago, or misinterpret the words I’m even saying now.
