Jordan Peele’s Us Reveals a Heavily Tattooed Character
Did you notice the ink on this supporting actor?
On March 21st, 2019 Jordan Peele’s Us premiered in theaters around the world. The film is Peele’s second horror flick as a writer, producer, and director, following the Academy Award-winning Get Out. Us stars Black Panther‘s Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke, as well as The Handmaid’s Tale‘s Elisabeth Moss and Tim & Eric‘s Tim Heidecker.
The film follows the Wilson family, who visit central California’s Santa Cruz on vacation and are confronted by violent doppelgangers. As a child, Nyong’o’s character Adelaide visits the Santa Cruz boardwalk with her family. She wanders off and stumbles into a house of mirrors on the beach. There, she is confronted with a doppelganger and after the experience, she is unable to speak for several weeks (presumably). As an adult, her family takes a vacation to Santa Cruz, with Adelaide and her husband Gabe accompanied by their teenager daughter Zora and son Jason. The family goes to the public beach, where they are met by family friends Kitty (Moss) and Josh (Heidecker).
In the beach scene, it is revealed that Heidecker’s character has been adorned with fake tattoos, which are visible in the film’s trailer. The character’s tattoos are not explained in the film, however, based on the character’s role in the film, they were added by Peele to contribute to the douchebag factor of Heidecker’s character.
Take a look at the film’s trailer below to catch another glimpse of the character’s tattoos and check out Us in theaters across the country.
