75 Fearsome and Festive Krampus Tattoos
Do you know the story of Krampus?
Ask any kid about Santa and you’ll see their eyes light up as they talk about presents, cookies and reindeer. However, what about Krampus? Krampus is a character in Central European Folklore (particularly Germany and Austria) who’s said to be half goat and half demon. He’s the contrast to Santa, as instead of bringing gifts for the good children, he punishes the bad ones. To this day, many cities and towns throughout Europe celebrate Krampus, with participants dressing up as him in festive parades during the month of December.
Krampus has been depicted in popular culture on numerous occasions and got his time in the spotlight in 2015’s feature film “Krampus.” This film follows a family who accidentally unleashes the wrath of Krampus onto their neighborhood after losing their festive spirit. The film stars acclaimed actors such as Adam Scott and Toni Collette, with English actor Gideon Emery voicing the titular character.
In honor of Krampus and all he brings to the holiday season, we’ve curated 75 (yes, 75) of our favorite Krampus tattoos from talented artists around the world. Take a look at their work in the gallery below and let us know your thoughts on Krampus in the comments section on social media.
