Kristin Cavallari Gets a Pair of Symbolic Tattoos

The reality TV star went to tattoo artist JonBoy for a pair of tattoos to help her through a difficult time.

Kristin Cavallari, the reality TV star known for “Laguna Beach” and “Very Cavallari,” has been going through a rough time lately. Earlier this month she announced that she was filing for divorce from her husband, former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler. Divorce is never fun, but it must be especially draining when you’re doing so in the public eye.

On Tuesday, Cavallari took a respite from the stress of her personal life and got a pair of tattoos, sharing the experience via her Instagram Stories.

The two tattoos were done by JonBoy, who is renowned for creating clean minimalist designs. The first tattoo Cavallari shared was of cursive script reading, “CJS.” The tattoo is a tribute to her three children—Camden, Jaxon and Saylor.

Cavallari’s second tattoo is on her wrist—a minimalist butterfly. Butterflies are often symbolic of change because of the journey they take throughout their life cycle. Born into this world as caterpillars, it isn’t until they go through a massive transformation that they become the beautiful creatures that humans romanticize. The process has captured the imagination for eons. Cavallari, drawing upon this notion, notes that “Butterflies have been such a sign for me when going through difficult times.”

The fun had only just begun once JonBoy had wrapped up Cavallari’s two tattoos; it was now time for Cavallari to test her artistic skills. This has become a bit of a tradition for JonBoy among his celebrity clients.

Unfortunately, neither Cavallari or JonBoy shared a photo of the finished product. What do you think she tattooed? How do you think her linework was? Do you think there was a blowout? Oh, who cares? Tattoos like this are all about the experience, and it looks like they both had a very nice time, so who are we to rain on their parade?
