Machine Gun Kelly Blasts Over His Chest Tattoo
Check out the musician's latest and greatest ink.
If you’ve got a tattoo that you’re no longer a fan of, there are a few different avenues that you can go down. First and foremost, there’s laser. But, this method is painful, expensive and very time consuming, as most tattoos require multiple sessions spread out over many months. If that’s not your thing, coverups are almost always an option. Generally, the goal of a coverup is to completely camouflage the existing tattoo and make it disappear. However, this isn’t always someone’s thing, as it can be cool to leave a bit of the original tattoo. Which leads us to our final option: a blastover. A blast over is a type of coverup that doesn’t aim to disguise the original tattoo. Instead, it plays with the original tattoo in a harmonious and collaborative way.
And that’s exactly the direction Machine Gun Kelly decided to go in for his latest and greatest tattoo.

Machine Gun Kelly isn’t just tattooed, he’s HEAVILY tattooed. Therefore, when it comes to getting a new piece he’s almost completely run out of room. But, instead of working with a fresh piece of skin, he opted to revamp one of his existing pieces.
On July 9th, Machine Gun Kelly got a blast piece on his collarbone. The piece is a freehand ring of thorns, which sits just below his “Tickets to My Downfall” script. It’s a blast over on some of Kelly’s older which, which included some barbed wire, a lithium atom, some lightning bolts, as well as Pacman and Pacman’s Blinky ghost.
The piece was inked by Los Angeles’ Thomas E, who took to Instagram to share the tattoo. The tattoo fits well with E’s signature, gothic style and shows that Kelly did his research.
“Honestly, it was a really straight forward session,” Thomas E shares. “It was a little later in the night and it was just us. He’s a cool dude, as far as I can tell. I knocked it out in a couple hours and went home.”
Other notable tattooers who’ve ornamented the skin of the “Love Race” singer include Snuffy, Chuey Quintanar and Chaim Machlev, the latter who’d given Kelly a blastover on his left arm back in March.
