75 Marvelous Mandala Tattoos
Would you get a mandala tattoo?
There are some tattoos that are popular and we just can’t see why. Then, there are others that we go “Yeah, I get why everyone loves those.” Mandalas are the latter. Mandalas have exploded in popularity over the last ten years and they’re one of the most common tattoos an artist does. Many geometric tattoo artists have earned acclaim by specializing in them, with some collectors covering their entire bodies in intricate and elaborate mandala patterns.
And we totally get the hype. Mandalas are able to be made totally unique to the individual, while still being recognizable. They look great on pretty much any part of the body, especially the chest, stomach, elbows, knees and head. Basically, if you’re going to an artist that does strong linework, you can’t go wrong.
Mandala translates to circle in sanskrit and it’s a geometric configuration of symbols. Mandalas are usually symmetrical, with different line, dot and shading patterns. In general, mandalas symbolize a spiritual journey. Mandalas are frequently depicted throughout Eastern religious art, such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism and Shintoism.
Many celebrities have helped to popularize the growing mandala trend, including Asia Argento, Ireland Baldwin and Zayn Malik. In honor of all the mandala lovers out there, we’ve curated 75 of our favorite tattoos from talented tattooers around the globe. Then let us know your favorite tattoo from this list in the comments section on social media.
