Miley Cyrus Has Three New Tattoos
Check out Miley's new tattoos for her dad, her mom and Billy Idol.
The year is winding down and overall, it’s been a really good year for celebrity tattoo collecting. Maybe the lockdown and the inability to get tattooed on a whim caused Hollywood to think through their tattoo decisions, but some really great tattoos were made for the stars this year. For example, Cardi B got some seriously impressive work by Jamie Schene. And Joe Jonas impressed us with his many Fornasetti inspired pieces. Even Post Malone got our approval with his skull tattoos.
Miley, the queen of tiny tats, expanded her collection this year and just before the holidays, she decided to add three new pieces to her collection. Miley visited artist Nico Bassill for two new pieces on December 18th, each an homage to important people in her life. The first tattoo is a tribute to legendary musician Billy Idol and it’s his Idolize Yourself logo on her right forearm. Billy Idol collaborated with Cyrus on her single “Night Crawling,” which appears on her 2020 album, “Plastic Hearts.” The second is a fineline pinup cowgirl with the phrase “Mama Tried” in a banner on her left bicep. This piece is likely an homage to her mother, Tish Cyrus.
In the past, Bassill has done a number of Cyrus’s tattoos, including a trident (with then boyfriend Cody Simpson), a “Rock-N-Roll’ heart and a a rendition of a painting by Matisse.
One day later, celebrity tattoo artist Dr. Woo took to Instagram to share a tattoo he’d recently done on Cyrus. This tattoo is a fine line black-and-grey motorcycle done on her right shoulder, which Woo shares is an homage to Cyrus’s father Billy Ray.
In the past, Woo has done many tattoos for Cyrus, including some ancient symbols, a puffer fish, a dragon sculpture and a jar of Vegemite.
