69 Magical Mushroom Tattoos
Do you like mushrooms?
Have you ever noticed that people either love mushrooms or absolutely detest them? They’re a very polarizing plant, indeed. Mushrooms are part of the fungus family and are recognized for having a stem, cap and gills. Yes, gills. Their gills are the ribbed parts underneath their cap, which are used for reproductive spore dispersal. There are over 50,000 different species of mushrooms, of these mushrooms 50% of them are inedible and indigestible. When it comes to dangerous mushrooms, 20% of species will make you sick upon consumption and only 1% are toxic enough to kill you. And of the mushrooms deemed “edible,” only about 4% are actually tasty.
There are a staggering 180 species of hallucinogenic mushroom in existence. These mushrooms contain some amount of psilocin and psilocybin, which can produce a comparable experience to LSD. Some of the most well known varieties of hallucinogenic mushrooms include the psilocybe cubensis, psilocybe semilanceata and psilocybe azurescens.
In honor of all the mushroom lovers (and haters) out there, take a look at 69 of our favorite mushroom tattoos from some seriously talented tattoo artists around the world. Then let us know your favorite tattoo from this list in the comments section on social media.
