Every tattoo collector has their most painful and least painful spots on the body that they’ve been tattooed. For some, they winced in pain while getting their elbows or knees blasted. For others, they nearly teared up when getting their fingers tattooed. For me, the stomach was one of my worst areas. Stomach tattoos have been extremely popular for serious collectors going back decades and now, they’ve come into the mainstream. Many of today’s hottest celebrities, including Justin Bieber, Adam Levine and Kevin Durante, are rocking some seriously hardcore belly ink. And we’ve got to give them props for really going for it.
But it’s not just the boys who are indulging in tummy tats—women are taking this body part head on. This has been a particularly popular spot for moms, as they’ve sought out tattooers to cover up stretch marks and scarring from childbirth. Tattooers call these pieces mommy makeovers, as they truly have the power to change a woman’s life for the better. Tummy tattoos allow moms to feel confident about a part of their body they’ve experienced insecurities with—plus they’re totally badass.
