On August 25th, legendary filmmaker Tim Burton turns 61-year-old. And in honor of Burton, we’re celebrating his impressive legacy in Hollywood by sharing 50 of our favorite tattoos inspired by his famous movies. 30 years ago this weekend Tim Burton’s Batman was released. In the early 2000’s I was able to tattoo these portraits on my friend @robertheckman_art These tattoos quickly pushed my career forward. I am so grateful for this movie and how it impacted my tattoo career. Most don’t know this but tattooing is a lot different than when I started. Machines, needles, and the whole process of making tattoo portraits in color is a lot easier due to technology and I think it’s great! When I see these tattoos I think about where I started who I was and how I never thought it would even be like this today for my life and the actual tattoo community. I love opening @instagram and being inspired by the great talents around the world that can do this and better today. I remember everyone told me that my tattoos would not hold up over time and that this style was a fad here I am going on nearly 20 years later! Two decades coming close and I can’t even tell you how many bad ass color realism tattoo artists do this style and crush it! I guess what I’m trying to say is damn who would have thought that a movie, a character, and a little hard work would have changed the direction of my life forever. Not bad for a high school dropout that was told over and over again that I would never do anything with my life. Here’s to Tim Burton @dccomics and all the amazing clients, every person who I’ve crossed paths with and have taken my seminars and work shops. Even if you watched my dvd free on YouTube because it’s been ripped off and watched for free. Thanks you for letting me be a part of your life. Leave a comment if you remember when I did this tattoo. And the last couple pics are healed over 12 years later. I did these in the first couple years of tattooing. With coil machines and needles I would make by hand daily! Shit was nuts!
