Twisted Taxidermy, Macabre Mixology and a Sinister Soundtrack— Mothmeister’s Post-Mortem Fairy Tales Come to Brooklyn

Check Out This Terrifically Terrifying Event

Photography by Karen Jerzyk

From October 24th through the 28th, the spookiest bar in Brooklyn, the House of Wax, hosted a spectacular event starring artistic duo Mothmeister. Take a look at the highlights from the four nights of fright below and let us know if you attended their exclusive gallery showing in the comments section on Facebook.

Meet Mothmeister, an artistic duo from Belgium who’ve mixed macabre taxidermy with stunning photographic visuals to create what they’ve called “Post-Mortem Fairy Tales.”

And while the pair primarily works out of Europe, they made a special trip to Brooklyn, NY in order to display some of the most fantastical prints for a delightfully dreary gallery show.

Mothmeister held their showing at Brooklyn’s House of Wax Bar, which is located in the bowels of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. The bar is based on the “panoptica touring attractions of the late 1800” and includes an extensive collection of rare waxwork sculptures. Fans of the macabre can explore shockingly realistic displays of anatomy, pathology, anthropology and a handsome collection of celebrity death masks.

The House of Wax Bar played as the perfect setting for Mothmeister’s exclusive collection of gallery prints and hand-made taxidermy show pieces. A select few originals were auctioned off at the event, with many lucky bidders walking home with stunning masterpieces to add to their home collections.

In addition to the visuals displayed at their event, Mothmeister also presented a stunning soundscape by the Dead Animal Assembly Plant. Members Zach Wager and Eric ‘Zero’ Bergen sculpted the sound for the gallery showing—sprinkling an added layer of morbid magic onto the event.

What do you think about Mothmeister and the House of Wax Bar? Did you attend this spectacularly spooky event? Let us know in the comments section on Facebook.
