Today’s tattoo of the day is this fun piece by Piotr Gie. Gie is based out of Dundee, Scotland, at one of the country’s top rated tattoo studios, Rock ‘n’ Roll Tattoo Studios. Gie gained popularity in the tattoo industry for his unique style. He takes elements of realism, illustrative, New School and American traditional and meshes it all into one to bring about this cool animated style. As you can see with today’s pick, Gie’s style incorporates various elements to different aspects of the tattoo in order to render one cohesive piece. Where the frog reads like more of a beautifully saturated stylized New School piece, the background imitates a more childish drawing with intentionally wonky line work that is then picked up again in the frog’s embellished triangular patterning. Though this style may not read as traditionally executed as many tattoo designs of today, the intense color blocking, beautiful shading, and solid black work all subtly show that Gie is entirely capable of creating amazing tattoos that will last through the test of time.
