Jordan Clarkson’s Tattoo Artist Estimates How Much He’s Spent This Year on Tattoos

26-year old combo guard, Jordan Clarkson, has been adding to his ink collection during the offseason. His tattoo artist, Steve Levy, thinks that he has already spent $20,000 this year on ink.

Like most people covered in tattoos, Clarkson can’t give a count of them all. Most of the ink has come since the Cavs lost in the Finals to the Golden State Warriors, but for the whole year, the estimation for what Clarkson spent, is 20 grand.

Clarkson said that nothing consequential had gotten the ink ball rolling, but that it was something that was always compelling to him.

“Once I got my first tattoo I was like, this is what I want to do,” Clarkson said. “I had the time. All I did this summer was hoop, sit at my house and get tattooed, wake up and hoop again.”

With his progressive career, Jordan Clarkson’s net worth is $10 million. As of 2018, Clarkson’s current team earns $12.5 million, and his total career earnings is above $37.914 million. So the simple answer to his new ink, is that now he has the time and the means to get covered.

Clarkson is Filipino-American, and on top of the tattoos, after the Cavs’ painful Finals series loss, Clarkson, for the first time in his career, represented his native roots by playing for the Philippines in the 2018 Asian Games.

Clarkson has dual citizenship with the Philippines and the United States. His father, Mike Clarkson, is African-American, while his mother, Annette Davis, is of half Filipino descent.

He also had private training sessions with Tyronn Lue, former Cavs coach.

Tattooed or not—and despite the Cavs’ grim start this season—Clarkson has been a consistent scorer off the bench, racking double-digit points every game.

#8 has played college basketball for two seasons with Tulsa before transferring to Missouri, where he earned second-team all-conference honors in the Southeastern Conference.

The 6′ 5″ player was born in Tampa, Florida, and was traded to the Cavaliers in February of 2018. Clarkson was traded along with Larry Nance Jr., in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye, and a 2018 first-round draft pick. In his debut for the Cavaliers three days later, Clarkson scored 17 points in a 121–99 win over the Boston Celtics. 

After foregoing his senior year in college to enter the 2014 NBA draft, Clarkson was selected by the Washington Wizards in the second round with the 46th overall pick and was immediately traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. In his first year, he was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team, a rarity for a second-round pick.

As a senior, he averaged 18.9 points, 6.1 rebounds 3.4 assists and 2.1 steals, leading his team to a 38-2 record and a semi-final loss in the state championship. He was also named San Antonio High School Player of the Year.

According to J.R. Smith, Jordan Clarkson stands out as one of the “swaggiest players” on the team.

“He’s at the top. He’s swaggy all day,” Smith said. “I’ll tell you, he comes to practice with Louis Vuitton flip-flops on, all types of stuff. He’s got more Supreme gear than I do.”
