Celebrate Patrick Star’s New Spin-off Show with Iconic Ink

Who's your favorite character from "SpongeBob SquarePants?"

In 1999, we were first introduced to the Nickelodeon animated series “SpongeBob SquarePants,” which has run for an astounding 21 years. It’s released a staggering 267 episodes in that time, which revolve around the show’s titular character as well as his close friends, neighbors and coworkers. For over two decades, SpongeBob SquarePant’s best friend has been Patrick Star, a pink starfish whose defining characteristic is his low intelligence.

Patrick Star is voiced by Bill Fagerbakke, who prior to “SpongeBob SquarePants” had lent his voice to a number of animated television shows including “Gargoyles,” “Dumb and Dumber” and “Jumanji.” He’s voiced Star throughout the TV series, as well as the franchise’s video games and feature films. Now, Patrick Star is finally becoming the star of his own show.

Fagerbakke is set to star in “The Patrick Star Show,” an animated spin-off which will have Star acting as a late night host for Bikini Bottom. It’s currently still in the works and it’s unclear if it will air on Nickelodeon or CBS All Access. What we do know is that it will certainly be a lot of fun and likely feature appearances from some of our favorite characters—including SpongeBob himself, Squidward, Mr. Crabs and Mrs. Puff. Maybe even Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy!

Growing up I always thought I needed a lot of friends but as I get older what I am learning is it’s more about quality over quantity. Having really close friendships is something I need. I need my friends and don’t know where I would be without them. The last few days I spent with my best and childhood friend, Rebekah, were perfect. We laughed, we had so much fun, got incredible friendship tattoos and were able to be kids again. Last time we did this was 3 years ago. We did everything together growing up and have countless memories. She lived three houses down from me for 15 years until she moved back to California. Life changed after that and not in a bad way, but it was harder without her here. Thank everything for Snapchat! Haha Adult life is hard. Really freaking hard. It’s easy for me to lose myself in the stress of adulthood if I don’t balance it with things that make me happy. Bekah coming up reminded me how important it is to take time with those you love to recharge your soul. I got to be a kid again for a few days and spend it with one of my favorite humans. Life isn’t infinite. It’s important we make the time for memories and do things that make us happy. I feel much more like me after spending time with Bekah. She knows my soul in ways no one ever will and I am so lucky to have her in my life, even if she is 420 miles away. And yes, my Stoner self loves that. She is my sister and I feel like I will have a little bit of her with me all the time now. When I look at this tattoo I will remember these last few days and I know it will make me smile and laugh I can’t wait to see her again and I’m so grateful to have this tattoo as a reminder of the years I spent with her, who I am and what makes me happy. I can’t thank @luke_reuben enough for these incredible pieces of art. Patrick and spongebob basically jumped out of Bikini Bottom and on to our forearms. He is incredibly skilled and I 10/10 recommended him, he’s an incredible artist and gentleman. Thank you so much, Luke. Make time for fun! You’re worth it and if you can, connect with the inner kid once in a while. It feels really good. ✨ ‍♀️
