It’s easy to tell when Christmas is getting near. Lights are hung from every tree, the weather starts to get cold, there is an overall sense of cheer in the air and, of course, Henry Rollins is screaming his way through a classic Christmas carol on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Rollins was on the show in order to promote his upcoming film He Never Died—no, it’s not a Christmas movie, it’s a horror film that was all the buzz at South by Southwest—and he was kind enough to throw on a light up sweater for a rendition of “A Carol of Bells” unlike any we have ever heard before.
Colbert kicks it off with some traditional caroling and, frankly, he impressed us with his voice. Who knew that the comedian extraordinaire could sing like an angel? Then, right when you start to get comfortable Rollins and the band kick it up a notch. With a top-notch horn section and band backing Rollins, one can almost imagine what it would sound like if Black Flag ever became a skacore band.
The only downside about the phenomenal sweaters Colbert and Rollins are wearing is that we don’t get a chance to see any of Henry’s legendary ink. Oh well, you’ll probably be too busy headbanging to notice anyways. Merry Christmas!
