These Money Tattoos Will Make You Feel Rich
Celebrate National Be a Millionaire Day with money tattoos
The idea of a millionaire is a relatively new concept in history and America gained their first multi-millionaire through German immigrant, John Jacob Astor. Astor made his riches through the fur trade monopoly and by investing in New York City real estate. At the time of his death in 1848, he’s amassed a $20 million fortune, which given the rate of inflation would be worth nearly $650 million today. At the time, Astor was obviously an extreme anomaly, but today there are approximately 18.6 million adult millionaires in the United States alone.
In 1916, John D. Rockefeller became the world’s first billionaire, earning his massive fortune through the Standard Oil Company. Rockefeller is regarded as the wealthiest American of all time and the richest person in modern history. Rockefeller had a net worth that would be approximately $400 billion today. As of a 2019 study by Forbes, there are 614 billionaires in the United States—which include technology entrepreneurs, fashion empire founders, oil tycoons and Kylie Jenner
Currently leading the pack of U.S. billionaires and the current richest man in the world, is Jeff Bezos. Bezos is the founder, CEO and president of Amazon and his current net worth is $148.6 billion. He’s the first person to become a centibillionaire during their lifetime and Amazon became the third company in history to make a trillion dollars.
While we can all only dream of achieving these kinds of fortunes, National Be a Millionaire Day encourages everyone to live large—at least for 24 hours. And what’s one of the best ways to live large you ask? Well, how about by showing off your riches on your skin? Take a look at some of our favorite money tattoos in the gallery below, then let us know your thoughts on this story in the comments section on social media.
