Celebrate National Chocolate Chip Day with delicious ink
Everyone has their favorite dessert and for me, that’s a cookie. What’s not to love about cookies?
First of all, they’re portion controlled—which is often needed. Second, they’re easily portable! Third, there are an endless amount of flavors and types to suit your needs.
If you like the classics, there’s Oreos. If you’re feeling fancy, how about an eclair or a macron? If you’re a dad, your go to is an oatmeal raisin cookie. Cookies can be seasonal as well, with sugar cookies dominating the holiday season and Girl Scout cookies in the Spring. Loving cookies has been ingrained in us by popular culture, starting at an early age with “Sesame Street’s” Cookie Monster, and for most, that love never stops.
Perhaps the most recognized cookie on planet earth is the chocolate chip cookie, which was invented by Ruth Graves Wakefield in 1938. Believe it or not, the chocolate chip cookie predates the invention of chocolate chips, as Wakefield broke up a Nestlé semi-sweet chocolate bar when creating the cookie. Originally, Wakefield believed that the chocolate chips would melt and create a chocolate cookie, however, this accident became a national treasure.
