Whoops, Orlando Bloom Gets This Mistake In His New Ink

Always have a fluent translator look over your ink

Orlando Bloom shared a cute photo of his new tattoo he got in honor of his son, the  problem? According to Metro, the tattoo might not say what it’s meant to.

It’s the age old problem of getting a tattoo in a language that you don’t read, in Bloom’s case the language is Morse code. Bloom thought he was getting Morse code of his son Flynn’s name, but Metro pointed out that the “L” in “Flynn” is actually an “R.” Making the tattoo read as “Frynn.”

Flynn is the nine year old son of Bloom and ex-wife Miranda Kerr. The numbers above the Morse code, Bloom stated in an Instagram comment, are the birth time and date of Flynn. Both Kerr and Bloom are now seeing other people, but the two both play active roles in their son’s life. Bloom visited artist Balazs Bercsenyi for the piece, who does detailed black and grey pieces that normally feature extremely small lines. While the lines on Bloom’s tattoo look impeccable, the spelling leaves something to be desired.

Of course, Bloom isn’t the first person to wrongly translate a tattoo—and who can blame him? Morse code looks cool and offers a unique way of spelling, even if you don’t know how to communicate with it.
