10 Inspired by 2020’s Oscar Winning Films

Last night, the 92nd annual Academy Awards revealed the winning films of 2019. This was the second year in a row that the Oscars went on without a host and allowed for more star power presenters. The show began with a performance by Janelle Monae, who appeared in “Harriet,” alongside Best Actress nominee Cynthia Erivo. Monae’s performance featured dancers wearing costumes from some of 2019’s top films, including “Midsommar,” “Us,” and “Dolemite is My Name.” Other performances of the night were made by Idina Menzel (accompanied by the international voice actors portraying Elsa in “Frozen II“), Chrissy Metz, Eminem, Randy Newman, Billie Eilish, Cynthia Erivo and Elton John.

There were many surprises during last night’s Oscars, particularly “Parasite” sweeping the night with four awards, including the coveted Best Picture. “Parasite” became the first non-English film to win this award and the only Korean film to win Best International Feature Film.

Many A-list actors won their first Oscars last night, including Brad Pitt, Joaquin Phoenix and Laura Dern. Despite not winning, it’s important to recognize Scarlett Johansson was nominated in both Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress—and it was her first time being nominated!

Despite being nominated in 10 categories, “The Irishman,” didn’t win a single award last night, despite being directed Martin Scorsese and starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci.
