A lot of planning and design has to go into optical illusion tattoos to make them work when translated into skin. One of the most popular forms of illusion ink is the ripped skin tattoo and the piece above has to be one of our favorites. Not only does it successfully look like skin is being ripped away, but rather than revealing the typical bio-mechanical or anatomical “under layer,” it reveals beautifully executed script. Both the script and its background are stylized to look like the pages of an ancient text laid within an actual second layer of skin bringing about an amazing three-dimensional effect.
