J-Lo and Ben Affleck Celebrate V-Day with Matching Tattoos

Bennifer 2.0 went tattoo official for their first Valentine's Day as a married couple

You could fill the Great Library of Alexandria with nothing but tales of matching couples tattoos that have gone wrong. Yet, despite decades of dedicated research showing that the couples tattoo is often a relationship’s kiss of death, the gesture still feels like the ultimate sign of commitment. You can always go and pawn that shiny diamond you were given, but that tattoo? That is permanent.

Here at Inked we know the dangers of the couples tattoo firsthand, but we can’t help being hopeless romantics when we see a celebrity duo spitting into the face of the gods and going for it. And when that celebrity couple is J-Lo and Ben Affleck, arguably the most famous of them all, we’re downright giddy.

Lopez and Affleck celebrated their first Valentine’s Day as a married couple yesterday by inking their devotion into their skin.

Remember that part above when I said we were giddy about the tattoos? I wrote that before I had actually seen the tattoos. Sigh.

Come on, Bennifer, you can do better than that! We love the sentiment behind the matching tattoos. Getting inked as a sign of your undying affection for each other with initials, an infinity symbol and some arrows is a touching tribute. Getting a tattoo that looks like it was chosen by shooting one of those arrows at a Pinterest board and just going with wherever it landed? Not so touching.

We don’t want to be the romance Grinch, but come on! You would think Affleck might have learned from the debacle that followed the revelation of his massive back tattoo. The two have a romance so nice they did it twice, you would think they could have thought of a more original way to pay homage to it. We’d recommend a photorealistic portrait of the “Gigli” movie poster.

It is pretty adorable that they went and got the tattoos though, isn’t it? This will factor into our final grades:
