For centuries the mandala has been a ritual symbol used to represent the universe used throughout hinduism and buddhism. Given the heavy meaning of the symbol it is not surprising that people choose to have it inked into their skin to serve as a reminder of the enormity of life. It also helps that through the work of the right tattoo artist mandalas make some of the most beautiful tattoos we have ever seen. What is especially cool about mandalas is that since it is such a basic idea an artist can run wild and improvise as they go along. While ever tattoo you will find in the gallery below is a mandala you will find that much like snowflakes, no two mandalas look the same. Enjoy.
