When we first think about Russia our debauched minds always turn to vodka, but the next best thing would be their cultural Matryoshka (Babushka) Dolls. These made their first appearance in the 1890’s in Moscow and were originally meant as children’s toys. From the 1900’s forward, they have become the icon of Russia and the Russian culture.
