Today’s tattoo of the day is this beautiful piece by Xoil. Xoil is a very unique tattoo artist based in France who is best known for his tattoos that showcase a cool stylized minimalism. Typically refraining from using a large color palette, most of his designs are created simply with reds, blues, and black. Xoil has an incredibly steady hand when tattooing as most of his work upholds a sketch work aesthetic characterized largely by intense line work in order to bring about concrete shapes and abstract ideas. Today’s pick is a great example of Xoil’s style as it displays a very traditional line work flower with implied shading that is then amplified by the additional red splatter effect and scribble style line accents. We love the subtle hints of grey that peek through this tattoo creating almost a drop shadow or even water mark effect to the ink at hand. It’s small details like this that push Xoil’s work so far ahead of the pack and make him worthy of today’s tattoo of the day.
