Today’s tattoo of the day is this remarkable piece by Andres Acosta! Acosta is best known for his amazing rose morphs in which he combines everyday objects or animals with a signature red rose. As the years have gone on, Acosta’s roses have grown more and more complex and featured even more bizarre objects to be morphed with.
Check out today’s pick, the tiger rose morph. While typically Acosta will take the entire object or creature and find a way to combine it with the flower, this time he decided to only focus on the tiger’s face. We love how the petals of the rose help to form the overall face (and even tongue) of the tiger as he snarls through the piece, and we exceptionally love how the presence of the rose somewhat mimics the tiger emerging from the shrubbery of the jungle.
The coolest part about Acosta’s rose morphs is that they play upon the realistic side of surrealism. While it is physically impossible to ever capture a tiger in a rose in real life, the depth, shading, color saturation, and layout of this particular tattoo all make the image seem like a believable concept. This really is one badass flower!
