Photo Gallery Follows the Text

The last place that Deadpool, the beloved Marvel comics character who will soon be headed to the big screens, should ever be is the delivery room. If you need to cut through a pack of bad guys or if you are looking for a good chimichanga recommendation, he’s your man. But to deliver a newborn? No thank you. Yet in a hilarious tweet from the man who will be playing the Merc with the Mouth, Ryan Reynolds, delivering babies is exactly how Deadpool spent his Mother’s Day.

— Ryan Reynolds (@VancityReynolds) May 10, 2015

From day one the makers of Deadpool, and Reynolds in particular, have brilliantly used social media to build up anticipation for the film. Previously Reynolds has tweeted out pictures of himself in the suit laying on a bear skin rug mimicking Burt Reynolds. There was also a video interview with Mario Lopez that went viral after a costumed Deadpool interrupted the interview by smashing a lighting rig into Lopez.

For those who don’t know much about the character, Deadpool is a mutant who can regenerate any injuries to his body pretty much instantaneously. This may sound similar to Wolverine, but the difference with Deadpool is that because of the way his body regenerates his mind is effected and causes psychosis. Due to this psychosis Deadpool is extremely unpredictable and often breaks the fourth wall and talks directly to comic readers, often with hilarious results. While he is a killing machine, he is one of the world’s most skilled assassins in the comics, it’s hard not to love him as he quips his way through life.

Naturally, he has also become one of the most popular comic characters for people to get tattooed. We’ve collected some of our favorite and most creative tributes to Deadpool in the gallery below. Enjoy.
