Barcelona Star Neymar Adds an Inspiring Tattoo to His Collection

Normally we would say that getting a tattoo of yourself is an insanely egocentric act and that it should be avoided at all costs, but in the case of Barcelona star Neymar’s new tattoo we are going to make an exception. The tattoo by Miguel Bohigues features a young Neymar staring out at the favela he grew up in pondering his future, and it is a remarkably awesome and inspiring piece of ink.
Famous footballers have been known for sporting impressive tattoo collections for quite some time. Neymar is joined in this club by Lionel Messi, David Beckham, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Sydney Leroux, Tim Howard and many, many others. Heck, Neymar was actually being called out by fans earlier this year for having a tattoo eerily similar to one of Beckham’s. No one will be accusing Neymar of stealing an idea for his new and most unique tattoo.
Bohigues posted his work on his Instagram account as well as a photo of him tattooing the 23-year-old winger alongside some pretty classy looking cars. In the tattoo the young Neymar ponders winning trophies, the football pitch and a house of his own far from the slum that he is looking at. In a comment alongside the tattoo, Bohigues explains some of the inspiration for the piece.
“Pursue your goals,” Bohigues says. “We see a young Neymar recalling his origins, the place where he comes from and how over the years everything was getting back on the road leading us to a place where we can achieve our dreams. Neymar, thank you again for letting me into your skin and thank you for inspiring us and making us dream that in each of us there is a Neymar.”
Neymar continues to play a key piece on the ultra-talented Barcelona FC squad that perennially contends in both the Champions League and Spain’s La Liga. This season he has been slowed slightly by injuries and rumored to be a transfer target of Manchester United, but he is still considered one of the greatest in the world as he was on the shortlist of candidates for this year’s Ballon d’Or. It’s clear that the dreams of the child seen in his new tattoo have already been achieved, but we’re guessing the competitive spirit within Neymar will continue to fuel him to further excellence on the pitch.
