Sen. Ted Cruz Shows Off Churchill Tattoo

Ted Cruz shows off his Winston Churchill tattoo

It’s not everyday that a United States Senator goes onto a national television to show off his tattoos but that is exactly what Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, did when he appeared on “Fox and Friends.” Cruz rolled up his sleeve to reveal a pretty sweet looking tattoo of Winston Churchill but sadly it was just an April Fools’ Day prank.

Earlier in the month Cruz had been the subject of a prankster who plastered much of Los Angeles with posters featuring a shirtless Cruz sporting a ton of tattoos and smoking a cigarette. The conservative from Texas took it in stride by joking that the only inaccuracy with the picture had been the cigarette in his mouth.

In coming up with his April Fools’ Day joke Cruz mixed that incident with another incident from this month in which he was caught doing a very poor imitation of Winston Churchill, according to the Washington Post.

“I was out in California a couple of weeks ago and there was some street art that was a little unusual,” Cruz said as he revealed the tattoo on “Fox and Friends.” “It inspired me and so, I’m very proud to say—I’m proud to stand with Winston Churchill.”

Before the show’s hosts were even sure what to make of Cruz’s ink the senator reminded them what day it was and revealed the joke. If Cruz ever wants to get serious and add some real ink he should give us a call, we can hook him up with whatever he wants. Although, as a potential presidential candidate we have to suggest that a tattoo of Lincoln or Washington would probably woo voters better than Churchill.
