Just as your cheeks have finally dried from the crying jag brought on by Adele’s 2011 hit “Someone Like You,” the British artist is making you break out the tissues once again as she drops her first single in four years. Why must you always re-break our hearts Adele? WHY?
In anticipation of her new album, out November 20, 2015 and titled 25, Adele teases us with a track off the record. Reminding you of all that is your past, she and her perfectly winged cat-eyes belt out another tear-jerker for the ages.
With lyrics like “Hello from the outside/At least I can say that I’ve tried/To tell you I’m sorry, for breaking your heart/But it don’t matter, it clearly doesn’t tear you apart anymore,” most anyone can relate to her self-inflicted heartache.
As if those lyrics weren’t painful enough to read, she goes on to sing, “I hope that you’re well/Did you ever make it out of that town where nothing ever happened?” THE RELATIVITY.
The leading man, or the ex-lover, in the video is Tristan “Mack” Wilds, largely known for his spot on HBO’s The Wire and CW’s 90210. Though the actor has a half sleeve on his right arm, it is not often visible in the video. But we do get a glimpse of the small lettering along the side of his right hand (2:56). Unfortunately, we can’t find any clips featuring Adele’s tiny tattoos.
Unless you are settled in a long-term relationship in which you are excessively happy, we suggest not watching the heart wrenching music video alone. Gather up your best group of friends and your favorite alcoholic beverage, “Hello” will spark hours of reflective conversation.
