Awesome Slow-Mo Video Shows How a Tattoo Machine Works

This video shows the science behind your tattoos!

Here are the mechanics of getting inked!

We all love getting tattoos, but not every ink-enthusiast knows the mechanics of the process. Sure, we all know that there is a motor, needles, and ink involved, but I’m willing to bet that most of us don’t know the differences between coil and rotary machines. Okay, maybe you do… But either way, this educational and beautiful video from Smarter Every Day shows just how a tattoo machine works and what it looks like to tattoo skin up close and personal at over 3,000 frames per second.

A Unique Look

After going through a far more thorough explanation of the mechanics of tattoo art—I won’t explain it as well as he does, so I won’t even try—that’s when the real fun starts. Destin sets up the Phantom and gets incredible slow motion footage of the entire process.

It’s totally mesmerizing!

Check It Out!

Seriously, this is tattooing like you’ve never seen it before.

Don’t forget to take a look at the rest of his videos over at Smarter Every Day on Youtube.

Do you have friends who love tattoos as much as you do? SHARE this amazing video with them!
