In his upcoming book Always Loyal, photographer Michael Stokes shows wounded U.S. veterans in a way that you have never seen before. By photographing the wounded veterans, many of whom are amputees, in the style of high fashion Stokes takes the focus away from what is missing and places it on the beauty that is there. Many of the subjects of these photos happen to have a decent amount of tattoos, a detail that we couldn’t help but notice. Flip through the gallery below to get a look at Stokes’ work.
