Demi Lovato, queen of the teen pop scene, met up with the great Gee to cover up the lips that once graced her wrist. The singer kissed those lips goodbye with a big and beautiful rose tattoo. We presume (based on her hash tag) the original smooch looked like a pretty lady part, “#RIPvaginatattoo.” Roses are a staple in the tattoo community and with Gee controlling the machine it’s no surprise the final piece is incredible.
Lovato first teased her 12.7 million Instagram followers with a sneak peak on April 1, “Oh yeah….. Forgot to post this…. It’s still a work in progress so I’ll insta when it’s done… and no this is NOT an April Fool’s joke haha.” Yesterday she posted the completed ink, “It looks beaaauutiful and I LOVE it!!”
Lovato is known for speaking out against bullying and is an advocate for mental illnesses as she has battled bipolar disorder and depression for many years. She’s shared her story with the world and most of her tattoos are in honor of her strengths and accomplishments. The pedals and the thorns of a rose represent a multitude of things and actually ring true to a lot of the struggles that come with bipolar disorder. The flower symbolizes not only love but also balance and new beginnings while the thorns tell of loss, defense and carelessness. The 22-year-old’s new ink is on her left wrist, resting just above “Stay,” her right wrist reads, “Strong.” Congrats on the new ink, Demi, you rock!
