Even before the last piece of confetti hit the turf of University of Phoenix Stadium after the New England Patriots victory in Super Bowl XLIX, Katy Perry was getting a permanent reminder of the day in the form of a tattoo. The pop star posted a picture of the tattoo artist at work with the caption, “I thought it would be appropriate to draw blood tonight… XLIX.” Katy’s performance was hot to say the very least, and we’re not just talking about her flaming ensemble (costume #1)! Super Bowl halftime shows set the bar high so we’re used to seeing stars go above and beyond but she wasted no time before going to extremes, roaring in on that massive mechanical lion. How about those dancing sharks and her beach balls (costume #2)? Plus, Perry was joined by Lenny Kravitz to perform a rock version of “I Kissed A Girl.” Katy sang and danced alongside surprise guest Missy Elliott, too, in custom Jeremy Scott (costume #3). The rapper we all love brought back her cute face and thick legs during her “Lose Control” performance. Fireworks went off as Katy Perry herself shot through the sky in a starry and sheer silver gown (costume #4) during her final act of what else but “Firework.” After a show like that, it’s no surprise she tattooed her Super Bowl extravaganza with yet another finger tat, just beside her Hello Kitty ink. Katy Perry’s “XLIX” tattoo sealed the deal for us; we’ve decided this was one of the best halftime shows to date.
