The tattoo industry’s favorite celeb added more ink to her rib cage over the weekend. Lady Gaga paid a visit to Shamrock Social Club in West Hollywood on Saturday, February 13, where tattooer Mark Mahoney inked the late David Bowie‘s face on her left side. The tattoo is an image of Bowie’s 1973 album Aladdin Sane. The large portrait rests between the Lady’s recent Mother Monster claw tattoo and the roses on her hip.
Gaga’s sitting with Mahoney comes just before she honors the legendary musician at the 2016 Grammy Awards. To make the performance larger than life, she has teamed up with Intel. In a promo video for the partnership, Gaga said, “Intel has enlisted Haus of Gaga to showcase technology through creativity at its highest level.” Through her performance, Gaga hopes to inspire to remind the world of innovation. “It all starts here,” Gaga said. “On music’s biggest stage.”
The six-time Grammy Award winner has proven time and again that she is the queen of getting—and staying—in character. Because this performance is a tribute to Bowie, we are sure her wardrobe, hair, and makeup will pull from his looks over the course of his career. Something tells us she is going to put her Bowie tattoo on display as well.
Gaga’s ballad “Til It Happens To You” is up for a Grammy this year in the category Best Song Written For Visual Media. She co-wrote the song with Diane Warren. It is also nominated for an Oscar.
The 58th Annual Grammy Awards air tonight, February 15, on CBS.
