Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau might quite possibly be the coolest head of state—especially now that Barack Obama is no longer in power. PM Trudeau hangs out with the likes of singer The Weeknd, he fights for refugees’ and women’s rights – pledging $650 million to expand women’s reproductive health services and sexual education – and he’s also quick with the hands in boxing rings. But, what undoubtedly makes Trudeau the essence of cool as far as world leaders go is the fact that he’s tattooed. We’ve been asking for a tattooed president in the United States for years—well, Canada’s got one. However, while PM Trudeau’s tattoo may be one of his badass assets, its meaning has been enthralled in controversy as of recent.

.@MegBergin My tattoo is planet Earth inside a Haida raven. The globe I got when I was 23; the Robert Davidson raven for my 40th birthday.

The reason for PM Trudeau getting the tattoo of the Earth and raven that sits on his left arm might stem from his father and former Canadian Prime Minister, Pierre. In 2012, PM Trudeau tweeted a description for his tattoo, stating that one part of the tattoo was the Earth, and later he added a raven done in the style of well-known Haida artist Robert Davidson.
