Actress Busy Phillips Causes Controversy with New Tattoo
Is this tattoo appropriate for a mom?
In 2018, actress and late-night host Busy Phillips got her first tattoo at the age of 39. The ink was inspired by book, This Will Only Hurt a Little, which was published on October 18th. In her book, she discusses women’s equality both on and off set in Hollywood. And on April 8th, 2019 Phillips got a second tattoo inspired by her memoir.
The tattoo, which was inked by Dallas artist Dre Li, is an illustration by Geoff McFetridge and features a girl ice-skating on the words “fuck em.” The design is placed on the arch of Phillips’ foot, a spot known to fade quickly and hurt like hell.
Although Phillips is happy with her new tattoo, it has rubbed many people the wrong way. On her Instagram post, one user left a comment about her choice of words, writing: “I’m not judging…honestly curious bc I wish I was as brave as you to get a tattoo like that – but…what do you tell the kids???”
However, Phillips was quick to respond to the criticism, replying: “I tell them that these are words to live by. Especially as a woman.”
