Can you believe this tattoo is 100% self-done?

While many tattooers will admit to tattooing themselves during their apprenticeship, very few would attempt to ink themselves outside of this process. Tattooing yourself is an extremely tricky process and requires patience to be both the artist and the client at the same time. However, to celebrate twenty years in the industry, this artist decided to not only tattoo himself but one of the most challenging parts of the body.

Shortly after being welcomed into the fray at @currenttattooing, my mate @dagonestattoo managed to capture a photo of me punishing the former bald spot of @crownofhorns whilst also highlighting the frantically approaching bald spot of my own. Look forward to showing you the result of this in a couple weeks time when we finish it. Should be a belter, I assure you. #rosegardenreapers

In a photo posted to Instagram, San Jose tattooer Jim Miner shares that he’s tattooed his face in honor of his twenty year anniversary as an artist. Over the course of twenty individual sessions, Miner creates a stunning masterpiece inspired by the fountain of youth on his face.

Happy new year everyone! Here was my project for 2018. 100% self-done. Worked on it 20 times in honor of my 20th year of tattooing. This was the result of many years of careful thought and meditation, and what was supposed to be there was revealed to me slowly over these years. It has been an incredible growth and learning experience, and will be a work in progress for quite some time. I waited also to reveal this to you all until it was however far along it could be, but this cat is out of the bag now. So here you go. Needless to say, I would not have got to the point of starting this until I had got past the point of giving a fuck about whatever negative feedback or repercussions might accompany such a choice. I’m not a soundcloud rapper, I’m a person who was born to be a tattooer and cares more about it than any other human pursuit. I appreciate your consideration of this.
