Evening Elephants Debut New Single ‘Life Is Swell’

The indie band teases summer with their new single and shows off fresh tattoos to commemorate

Spring is just around the corner, and that means summer will be here before you know it. With that in mind, you’re probably looking for the perfect song to blast with your windows down on a breezy night, and luckily up-and-coming indie band Evening Elephants has got you covered. Their newest single, “Life is Swell,” full of twangy guitars, dreamy vocals and carefree vibes, is out today on all streaming platforms—just ahead of their EP of the same name coming out in early 2023.

It all started with two free spirits, Brandon Leslie (drummer/producer) and Sam Boggs (vocalist) connecting at their mutual friend’s backyard in LA just over two years ago. Both possessing knowledge in the music industry, the two were feeling quite uninspired at the time and coming up at the end of their ropes. However, the stars aligned in that open sky above Echo Park, and thus was born the Evening Elephants.

Since then, the band has released a handful of songs, “Burning Trees & Breathing” being one that emerged from that magical night. After playing around with their sound under this new alias, “Life is Swell” is the first single that showcases a sound that’s more sure of itself and bombastic than ever. The track wastes no time in swooping you into the band’s lively universe, fusing nostalgic indie pop with raw and gritty energy. The tune embodies both feelings of hyping up the party and cruising through the sunset with a good day’s memories fresh on the mind.

In celebration of the release of this single, the band took to none other than Inked NYC to get their first neck tattoos—“Life is Swell” written in an endearing scratch font taken from the back of their drum kit. With this fresh ink, the band has their sights set on the long but jam-packed journey ahead, and can’t wait to bring you along.
