Celebrate National Kissing Day with smooch worthy ink
June 22nd is National Kissing Day, a holiday established to appreciate and enjoy the act of kissing someone you care about. Kissing is done universally with cultures around the world, leading many experts to believe it’s instinctual. Kissing can burn up to 26 calories per minute and uses between 23-34 facial muscles.
The first onscreen kiss occurred in 1896’s “The Kiss,” a short film that lasted a mere 23 seconds and caused quite the commotion in Victorian society. The first interracial kiss on screen happened in a 1966 episode of “Star Trek” and the first lesbian on screen kiss was had on “L.A. Law” in 1991.
The average person spends 336 hours of their life kissing and the world’s longest kiss in history lasted 58 hours, 35 minutes and 58 seconds. When to people kiss they swap between 10 million and 1 billion bacteria.
The lips are 100 times more sensitive than the tips of the fingers and are also more sensitive than the genitals, making it possible for a woman to have an orgasm through kissing.
