80 Marvelous Manga Tattoos
What's your favorite manga?
We know that many of you grew up reading comic books or graphic novels, but what about manga? Manga originated in Japan and it’s consumed by people of all ages. The word “Manga” means whimsical or impromptu pictures. It began being used in the late 18th century and during the early 19th century the first manga books were published. In the two hundred years since manga originated, it’s come a long way. While the art style is still pretty simplified and most artists prefer to print their stories in black-and-white, there are countless manga genres to enjoy. You have action, adventure, fantasy, horror, science fiction, erotica, sports—the list goes on!
The best-selling manga series is “One Piece” by Eiichiro Oda. Oda began publishing this manga in 1997 and has released over 100 volumes, adding up to approximately 490 million units sold worldwide. Other popular manga include “Golgo 13” by Takao Saito, “Dragon Ball” by Akira Toriyama, “Case Closed” by Gosho Aoyama and “Naruto” by Masashi Kishimoto. Many manga have been turned into anime or live action films, gaining even larger followings and acclaim.
