When Life Gives You Lemon Tattoos, Make Lemonade
Celebrate National Lemonade Day with sweet and sour tattoos
Lemonade is one of the most popular beverages of the summer season and almost all of us ran a lemonade stand in our youth. Lemonade can be traced back to AD 1000, with the Egyptians bottling lemon juice with sugar. Today, lemonade is divided into two main categories: cloudy and clear. Cloudy lemonade is most commonly consumed in North America and in the UK it’s referred to as old fashioned or traditional lemonade. It’s made with three primary ingredients: lemon juice, water and sugar—although other ingredients may be added for coloring and flavor. This type of lemonade is generally served cold and most often consumed during the summer. Clear lemonade is most popular in the UK and Australia. It’s a known for being a clear, lemon-flavored carbonated beverage.
Lemonade has been featured prominently in popular culture throughout history, particularly within the “Peanuts” franchise. In these comics and films, the character Lucy runs a lemonade stand, which doubles as psychiatric help. In 2016, Beyoncé reinvented the beverage with her sixth studio album “Lemonade.” The album was inspired by the phrase “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade,” and is regarded as the singer’s most acclaimed album thus far.
