NBA Team to Give Out Free Neck Tattoos
In order to honor the five-year NBA veteran the Grizzlies have created a unique promotion — on Feb. 21 fans will be given a temporary “Grizzlies” neck tattoo.
Memphis Grizzlies forward James Johnson is having a breakout season and has quickly become a fan favorite on his new team. In order to honor the five-year NBA veteran the Grizzlies have created a unique promotion — on Feb. 21 fans will be given a temporary “Grizzlies” neck tattoo.
The large tattoo across his throat is one of the most notable things about Johnson. After his son was born prematurely and in a fight for his life Johnson got his name, Naymin, inked across his throat along with the child’s birthdate, according to ESPN.
Even though he hasn’t been a starter this season Johnson still leads the teams in blocks as he contributes 22 minutes a game. Johnson’s play is integral to the Grizzlies’ staunch defense that ranks third in the league.
To build up some excitement for the unexpected Johnson as they make a push for the last playoff spot in the west — their 26-22 record would have them in third place in the weak Eastern Conference — the team will be giving away clear stickers that say Grizzlies for fans to wear on their neck when they face the Los Angeles Clippers.
While there are a huge number of NBA players sporting a decent amount of ink — a topic that we have discussed at length at Inkedmag.com — this is the first time that we have heard about a promotion based on a player’s tattoos and we couldn’t be more excited about it and we hope to see more like it in the future. Perhaps a team will sign Deshawn Stevenson and give away $5 tickets in honor of his ink.
