Nick Cannon Gets Tattooed by Two Artists at Once

The multi-talented entertainer had his neck and chest tattooed over the course of two days at Inked NYC

Getting your neck tattooed is serious business. Not only are you making a bold life choice by becoming somebody with a neck tattoo—which is still taboo in the eyes of some closed-minded folks—but you’re also signing up for a hell of a lot of pain. To borrow a phrase from the immortal Mick Foley, it takes an extreme level of testicular fortitude to sit through the session required to get a neck tattoo. But to have two tattooers go to town on your neck on back-to-back days? That’s some next-level guts there.

Nick Cannon was up for the challenge. While visiting Inked NYC this week, Cannon was had his neck and chest tattooed by Inked NYC resident artist Maria Garza and Sherri Austria. The two artists worked on Cannon for two days straight as they created a masterpiece representing the journey Cannon has been on throughout his life.

Of course, Cannon wasn’t just here to get tattooed. He was also visiting Inked for an upcoming magazine feature. When we sat down for the interview, Cannon explained to us a little about how he chose the compass on his chest. “A compass is so many things,” Cannon says. “It’s a fortune teller. It could give you your future, it could give you your direction, it can show you your balance.”

That’s just a little bit about one small element of the piece Cannon had done. Be on the lookout for our interview with Cannon coming out in our upcoming Music Issue this March. Not only will you get a chance to hear the entertainer tell his personal journey, in his own words, but you’ll also have a chance to see how stunning the tattoo looks now that it’s finished.
