For the past two decades, Pantone has announced their Color of the Year, a unique hue chosen to set the tone for the next 365 days. The shade is picked by a panel of experts and the decision is made by analyzing pertinent events in politics, entertainment, sports and culture. With the next year being 2020, the Color of the Year held extra weight, as it’s the beginning of a brand new decade. However, when 2020’s color was announced, many were surprised by the direction Pantone went in.

2020’s Color of the Year is Classic Blue, chosen to represent dependability, clarity, tranquility and resilience.
